Fatal crashes in Renmark, Paisley take road toll to 52

A LOCAL, and a man from Adelaide, have both lost their lives following two major car accidents occurring within 30 minutes yesterday.
Police were called to Ral Ral Avenue, in Renmark, just after 5pm, after reports a Yamaha motorbike had crashed into a Hilux.
The rider, a 47-year-old man from Berri, died at the scene, while the driver of the Hilux was uninjured.
Ral Ral Avenue was closed for several hours following the accident.
Police were then alerted to a crash on the Sturt Highway near Paisley Road, outside of Blanchetown, involving three cars and a truck, just after 5.30pm .
The driver of a Mitsubishi sedan, a 43-year-old man from Somerton Park, died at the scene.
A 26-year-old Swan Reach woman driving a Holden sedan was taken to the Angaston Hospital with minor injuries, and a 27-year-old man from West Croydon driving a Nissan sedan was taken to the Lyell McEwin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was not injured.
It is understood Major Crash Investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding both accidents.
The deaths were the 51st and 52nd on South Australian roads so far in 2023, compared to 30 at the same time last year.
