INVESTIGATIONS are ongoing into the circumstances of a car crash that saw a Riverland man lose his life earlier today.
Police and emergency services were called to Ian Oliver Drive, in Waikerie, just after 2.30am this morning, following reports that a Holden Commodore sedan had left the road and collided with a tree before coming to a stop in a vineyard.
The driver and sole occupant, a 40-year-old Waikerie man, died at the scene.
It is understood major crash investigators attended the scene to examine the circumstances of the collision.
Road closures were put in place at the intersections of Ian Oliver Drive and Sturt Highway, pus Ian Oliver Drive and McCutcheon Street.
The man’s death was the 19th life lost on SA roads this year, compared with 31 at this time in 2021.
