Thanks to Ian Cass
AFTER reading ‘Learning to live with varroa mite’ in the SA Farmer summer edition, so well written with great photography by Sebastian Calderon, I would like to thank Ian Cass for such wonderful information.
I have so much respect for this gentleman, his expertise and knowledge is unlimited.
He is more than happy to help anyone who is prepared to understand about our beautiful bees. I am not an apiarist, however there are three beehives in our Mallee trees on our property.
These bees need sustenance, including water which we provide. As I didn’t want my bees to drown I rang Ian and gleamed so much information from him.
Bees are the most beautiful, smart and friendly of God’s creatures if you know how to handle them.
I’m really hoping that the State and Federal Governments read Ian’s item, learn from him and make sure that research is stepped up to eliminate this most deadly disease.
There is no time for red tape, politicians should seriously get as much information as they can and start working closely with researchers and apiarists.
If not - no bees, and no food, including delicious honey. Simple as that.
I wish all apiarists the very best in seriously trying to eliminate varroa mite.
