Kingston Road at Moorook reopened to light vehicles this morning, while the Lyrup ferry also reopened at midday.

The Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) says strength testing has confirmed that Kingston Road is safe for vehicles less than 4.5 tonnes, under controlled conditions.

Road users are warned that the road shoulder is soft in some sections and to take extra care when travelling. Traffic cones and speed restrictions will be in place to keep vehicles off the shoulder in areas of greatest concern.

Meanwhile the Lyrup ferry is initially only open to light vehicles less than four tonnes due to council weight requirements on the connecting roads.
