Sixth title for Andrew
Andrew Hume, who plays at Loxton Golf Club off a handicap of +1, won the men’s event with two par rounds of 72 off the stick, for a gross winning score of 144. His Saturday round contained two birdies, balanced by two bogeys.
The 36-hole stroke event consisted of a drawn event on Saturday and a shotgun start on Sunday with many visitors and local Barmera and Riverland golfers taking part.

The Sunday round was another par round containing 3 birdies and 3 bogeys. These were the best two consecutive rounds played in a Barmera Open event in living memory.
Spectacular golf by Andrew especially considering the wet weather conditions encountered on Saturday by the golfers. Andrew has previously won the event in 2015, 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2024.
Runner-up was Samuel Pearson from the Berri Golf Club (plays off +2 at the moment) who had scores of 78 and 75 for a gross total of 153.
Young Paul Efthimiou, also from Berri Golf Club filled the third placing with rounds of 81 and 85 for a gross total of 166.
In the Women’s event, Ruth Iser from Axedale Golf Club in Victoria, lead the field with rounds of 99 and 96 for a gross score of 195. Runner-up was local Barmera member Meredith Williams with 97 and 107 for a gross score of 204.
In third place, improving junior golfer Maicey Hughes from Berri Golf Club had rounds of 110 and 96 for a gross score of 206.
