River Murray users can now operate a human-powered vessel within 250m of Lock 3.

THE further reduction of flood restrictions will allow locals and visitors to access the water closer to River Murray infrastructure.

The SES announced today River Murray users in zones C and D could now swim, bathe, dive or operate a human powered vessel within 250m of Lock 3.

Swimming, bathing, diving and the operation of human-powered vessels remains prohibited within 250m of Lock 2 and 1, and people must remain 50m away from overhead powerlines if in, or on a floodplain.

Zone C runs from Lock 4 to Lock 3, but excludes Lake Bonney, while Zone D runs from Lock 3 to Lock 2 and includes Waikerie.

An SES spokesperson advised "the community are reminded that people operating watercraft, swimming, canoeing or participating in other activities on the River Murray are advised to take appropriate precautions".

A full list of River Murray restrictions still in effect can be found by visiting the website (www.sa.gov.au/topics/emergencies-and-safety/river-murray-flood/restrictions).
