Dry NYE areas declared in Morgan and Cadell

MURRAY Mallee Police have reminded the public that short-term dry zone areas have been declared at spots in Morgan and Cadell this New Year’s Eve.

Possession or consumption of alcohol in a prohibited area carries an on the spot fine of $252.

The following dry zones will be in place at:

Morgan river front 4pm, December 31 to 9am January 1.

Cadell river front 4pm, December 31 to 9am, January 1.

“Police want everyone to have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, but antisocial, violent or drunken behaviour will not be tolerated,” a SAPOL spokesperson said.

“If you are celebrating at your favourite spot along the Murray River, remember that alcohol and water don’t mix, whether you are on a boat, jetski or swimming.

“Police will also be out actively targeting drink and drug drivers to ensure our roads are safe this New Year’s Eve and urge motorists to never drink and drive.”
