A LOCAL man was refused bail in the Berri Magistrates’ Court last Thursday after being arrested on charges relating to a Riverland West stabbing late last month.

Peter John Hammant, 36, faces an aggravated charge of causing serious harm with intent after he allegedly stabbed another man in Blanchetown just after midnight on Saturday, May 29.

Mr Hammant will remain in custody until he next appears in court in Adelaide in October.

An aggravated charge of causing harm with intent to cause harm carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.
