YET another new Queensland fruit fly outbreak has been declared in the Riverland today, following the detection of maggots found in home-grown nectarines in Barmera.
It is the 22nd outbreak declared in the Riverland.
Restrictions are now in place in the outbreak area, which takes in parts of the Barmera township.
Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) staff will visit all properties within the new 1.5km red outbreak area to inspect yards and provide residents with information about what they need to do.
PIRSA says residents need to follow the restrictions now in place to prevent fruit fly from spreading to other areas.
