WE ARE ONE

TODAY marks the first edition of the new Murray Pioneer, which will cover the entire Riverland.
After last week’s closure of Taylor Group mastheads The Loxton News and The River News, the region will now have one comprehensive overview of the region.
Taylor Group Newspapers general manager Ben Taylor said the new publication will take off where its sister papers left off.
“The Loxton News and The River News both have a proud history and were held very close to a lot of locals’ hearts,” he said.
“We look forward to continuing the outstanding coverage of the Loxton districts and Riverland West areas and hope to delve even deeper into covering every area of the Riverland. While times are tough at the moment, we are excited for a time when we can cover the region’s sport and events once more.”
Mr Taylor said he looks forward to getting to know more readers from all over the Riverland.
“We get great interaction from our readers and I hope our Loxton and Waikerie readers pick up the phone and let us know what is happening in their towns,” he said.
The archives of both The Loxton News and The River News will remain in their current offices for the public to access.
“It’s an important historical asset for any town and we want to ensure these archives remain accessible,” Mr Taylor said.
