Second jobs a necessity as cost pressures bite

RIVERLANDERS are increasingly needing second jobs as cost-of-living pressures continue to increase, with new figures showing people living outside Australia’s capital cities are more likely to hold multiple jobs than their metropolitan counterparts.

RIVERLANDERS are increasingly needing second jobs as cost-of-living pressures continue to increase, with new figures showing people living outside Australia’s capital cities are more likely to hold multiple jobs than their metropolitan counterparts.
The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows 7 per cent of workers in regional Australia held more than one job in March 2026, compared with 6.2 per cent in capital cities.
