Riverland verdict on SA’s new COVID-19 restrictions... UNWANTED, INCONSISTENT, BUT NECESSARY
1 min read

SEVERAL sections of the Riverland community have reluctantly welcomed SA’s COVID-19 restrictions rushed out this week, despite concerns over apparent inconsistencies.
Riverland sport has been suspended for a fortnight, while affected businesses are scrambling to adapt to the new conditions, following South Australia’s Adelaide-centric coronavirus outbreak of 17 news cases on Sunday.
Despite questioning why junior sports were cancelled while schools remain open, Riverland tennis official Mike Horsman said he could “see where (the State Government) is coming from”.
“If they allow pubs to have 100 people and allow schools to open, is it really a big deal to have 40 or 50 kids running around a tennis court in the open?” Mr Horsman said yesterday.
“(But) they are just trying to stop this before it does anything and the best way is to restrict everything.”
Renmark gym owner Dally Nijjar has moved his classes outside and said while he understood the Government’s decision, believed the conditions were particularly harsh on his industry when compared to certain others.
