THE Murray Pioneer has been crowned the nation’s best regional newspaper for 2024 by Country Press Australia (CPA).

The newspaper received the top honour at the Victorian Country Press Association annual awards, held last Friday, which included announcements of the CPA national award winners.

Taylor Group Media managing director Ben Taylor said the award reflected the Pioneer’s commitment to informing the Riverland community.

“The winning newspapers from the state associations automatically go into contention for the Country Press Australia national awards,” Mr Taylor said.

“As The Murray Pioneer was awarded best newspaper in 2024 at the Country Press South Australia awards held in February this year, at the Hilton Adelaide, we went into contention up against the other state winners.

“This is a magnificent win for The Murray Pioneer and the community we serve. While newspapers across Australia are facing challenging times, this win reaffirms to our staff that we are the best at what we do on a national level.

“I’m extremely happy for my staff and especially grateful to our readers and advertising clients across the Riverland.”
