THE Lake Bonney and Lake Cullulleraine Yacht Clubs travelled to Lake Boga Yacht Club to contest the annual Sunraysia Interclub Regatta earlier this month.

This teams-based competition has been running since 1978 with true friendly rivalry and camaraderie.

There was no racing held on Saturday due to lack of wind, but on Sunday, three races were successfully completed until the light and fickle winds dropped out completely once again.

Lake Boga Commodore Gary Johnson presented the Interclub Trophy Shield to the winning club – Lake Bonney Yacht Club (LBYC), which was ably represented by the team of Beau Delaine, Geoff Ling, Steve Thomas, Mark and Vanessa Wainright, Gareth Carpenter, and Chris Stevens.

Next year’s regatta will be hosted by Lake Bonney Yacht Club.

Elsewhere, Saturday offered a Come and Try remote sailing session at the Lake Bonney Yacht Club.

The northeast Adelaide-based Lightsview Remote Control Sailing Club visited, bringing a few of their club DF95 boats for the interested public to have a go at RC sailing.

Up to 11 of their members came up with their own personal DF95 boats, and along with our own LBYC RC boats, there were up to 20 on the water at any one time.

With a break for lunch to enjoy a burger and a drink or two out on the balcony, the day was a lot of fun making new friends with the same passion for sailing.

The DF 95 is a very affordable and easy way into RC sailing and friendship. Sailing slowly wound up around 4.30pm after about six hours of on-water time.

For anyone interested in RC sailing, or dinghy sailing, please reach out via our social media pages or just drop in to our clubhouse on Saturdays.
