RIVERLAND hockey superstar Kari McMahon will return to the region tonight as the headline act for the 2022 Riverland Sportsperson of the Year Award presentation night.

The Berri Hockey Club product represented Australia over 150 times and was a member of the Hockeyroos’ gold-medal winning team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She also represented Australia at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

The 30-year-old will be guest speaker at the prestigious awards night, which is being held for the second time this year, after a Covid-related delay saw the 2021 event moved from November last year to April this year.

The major award has a field of 17 nominations, while a number of other awards will also be presented on the night, including the Peter Frankcom Junior Sports Star of the Year Award, the Steve McFarlane Contribution to Sport Award and the John Ormsby Coach of the Year Award.

In addition, another sporting identity will be inducted to the Graham Charlton Riverland Legends of Sport hall of fame.

The event is staged by 5RM and hosted by the Berri Hotel.
