DETAILS of a story that appeared in The Murray Pioneer last week were incorrect.
DETAILS of a story that appeared in The Murray Pioneer last week were incorrect.
The story headlined ‘Surplus and a rate rise’ (17/12/25) said Renmark Paringa Council recorded “an operating surplus of more than $39.3m for the year ending June 30, 2025”.
This was incorrect.
Renmark Paringa Council in fact recorded the following:
- An operating surplus – as reported in its Annual Report (page 77) of $8.664 million; and
- When adjusted for one-off grant funding associated with major capital works (including the Twentyfirst Street Bridge and Renmark Riverfront Wharf), an adjusted operating deficit of $2.377 million.
The Murray Pioneer apologises for the error.
