Waikerie based therapist and life coach Jo Cain’s passion for helping others began when working as a primary school services officer in her 30s.

The third-generation local, in her eleven-years of teaching special needs children, learned about the value of providing emotional support to students and their parents.

Jo then decided to work in the homelessness services sector and study social work at university.

During her studies, she developed an interest in therapy counselling techniques and completed intensive training in Neuro Linguistic Programming at practitioner and master practitioner levels.

The 61-year-old found these techniques also assists her own personal growth and development.

She also has a diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy.

Jo opened her business Soul Essence part-time in 2017 and in 2020 decided to make it a full-time enterprise.

She specialises in supporting people with stress, anxiety and depression, grief and loss and trauma and PTSD.

She has clients from the Riverland, across SA, and interstate who she sees both in person and online.

‘My dream is to empower and enable people to be the best they can be- physically, emotionally, spiritually and professionally,” Jo said.  

Family is extremely important to Jo, who has two sons and a daughter and two granddaughters.
