AN ADELAIDE woman accused of stealing tens of thousands of dollars from the Moorook Animal Shelter will finally go to trial, five years after she was first arrested.
Helen Joy Hamilton, who was arrested on September 25, 2015, after allegedly stealing about $80,000 from the shelter over a two-year period, will face trial at the Berri Magistrates Court in October.
Police allege Ms Hamilton established a website accepting donations on behalf of the shelter, receiving about $114,000 between June, 2011 and August, 2014.
Ms Hamilton allegedly stole about $80,000 before transferring the rest of the funds to the shelter.
After more than four years of delays and adjournments, the case was finally listed for trial last Tuesday.
