A new Portal set to open for the Riverland

A POPULAR festival – designed for fantasy lovers and local creatives – will once again be returning to the Riverland after receiving almost $30,000 worth of grant funding, with the extra support set to provide free art workshops, performances, events and exhibitions for an upcoming September weekend.

Barmera’s community initiative Part of Things will once again host the Portal Festival from September 25 to 27, after receiving $29,978 as part of the Federal Government’s Regional Arts Fund.“Portal is a fantasy workshop festival encouraging the Riverland to embrace a little weirdness and magical wonder since 2022,” Portal Festival founder, and Part of Things member, Kirste Vandergiessen said.
