A Christmas tradition returns
ON Christmas Eve, December 24, 1956, around 15 floats took part in the inaugural Renmark Christmas Parade. Departing from Hotel Renmark at 2.30pm, the afternoon procession brought Christmas cheer to families from Renmark, Cooltong, Chaffey, Paringa, Murtho and Lyrup. Father Christmas delighted local children with gifts and drinks, while prizes were awarded for the best-decorated boys and girls bicycles. A wonderful community tradition was born.
