Anzac Day services at Renmark would have to be one of the worst I’ve ever attended. There was no ode given in either service – just Lest We Forget, a political speech from Ray Hartigan that had nothing to do with the history of Anzac Day, and the wreath-layers, some of whom would be well into their 80s, were left standing out in the sun on the bitumen. If that is the best the RSL can do it will be Lest We Forget.
