ANOTHER round of the 2025 Riverland hockey season is in the books, and it was Loxton who enjoyed a successful weekend on the pitch.
A grade men’s action saw the Tigers facing off against reigning premier Berri on Saturday afternoon at Glassey Park.
In an even game, Cody Hennig proved to be the difference maker, scoring the only goal for the match, and securing the points for his side.
Jay Botton was superb all afternoon for Loxton, while Everett pair Jayden and Darcy continue to shape the future of the club, and put in strong showings.
It was a double delight for Loxton across the senior men’s competitions, with its B grade side taking out a 4-2 victory over Waikerie.
In an even spread of contributors, the Tigers had four individual goalscorers, and it was Todd Griffin who spearheaded a bulk of the attacking play.
Griffin failed to feature on the scoresheet, but Kieran Beer, Lachlan McKinnon, Lee Mickan, and Ty Othams all did.
Steve Trager and Rowan Hope provided relief for the Knights in what was a tough afternoon, while Tim Ridley failed to give in.
Following a 5-0 forfeit victory in the A grade women’s competition for Loxton against Berri, attention turned to Waikerie’s result with Sunraysia on Friday night.
It was a successful trip over the border for the Victorian-based side, earning a 2-0 victory over the Knights.
Sunraysia found goals via Phia Hugo and Hannah Benson, while Ella Kroehn fought valiantly for Waikerie in a disappointing result.
Loxton were unable to complete the perfect weekend across the senior grades, with its B grade women’s outfit suffering a romping 8-0 defeat at the hands of Loxton.
Jess Cronin finished with a hat-trick for the Knights, while Bec Leske’s brace helped put the result beyond doubt.
