Renmark Men’s Probus Club takes out bowls crown

RENMARK Paringa Mayor Peter Hunter was guest speaker at the Monday, July 21, meeting of the Renmark Men’s Probus Club.
Mr Hunter started off by giving us an extremely interesting coverage of his early life in Adelaide and various teaching positions throughout South Australian, before finishing up at the Renmark North Primary School as principal for 16 years.
He then spoke about his involvement with the Renmark Paringa Independent Living group, firstly as a committee member, and now as chairman.
This was followed by talking about the Renmark Paringa Council, including the Jane Eliza Project, Bookmark Creek Regulator, and a comprehensive rundown on council operations. Peter also included a visual display with his presentation and answered numerous questions from our members.
Riverland Probus Bowls Day,
Friday, August 1:
This year was played at Barmera and was won by our own men’s club for the very first time in 16 years, with a team combining Kevin Schopp, Keith Lange, Stuart Pendle and Frank Turton. Congratulations, and perhaps this might just be the start of a new trend.
Future planned meetings/events:
Monday, August 18: Visitation to fire station following our usual meeting and morning tea.
Friday September 12: The men’s and ladies Probus Clubs will be holding the Annual Church Service at the Renmark Lutheran Church, Seventeenth Street, Renmark. Morning tea will be at 10am, and service at 11am, followed by lunch and fellowship at 12 noon at Hotel Renmark. We will need to know the number of people attending by Monday, September 8.
Monday September 15: Visitation to Wilkadene.
Thought for the Day:
Feeling happy is vitally important in life. It has many benefits. When you are happy you tend to attract happy people to you. Happy people tend to be emotionally and physically healthier, more compassionate, creative and energetic.
