5RM ready to rock the RFL GF

THE Riverland and Mallee’s 5RM is in store for a bumper Grand Final Day this Saturday at Renmark when the Rovers do battle with Barmera-Monash, with the team preparing for a big afternoon.
Headed up by 5RM’s sport director, Lachlan ‘Lachie’ Winnall, 5RM will again broadcast all the action from Saturday.
Winnall will be alongside his usual off-sider Trevor ‘Nobby’ Norton, and Pioneer sports editor Lachlan Dand.
“It’s been another big year at 5RM Riverland Football, and the 2025 season really has given us so many highlights,” Mr Winnall said.
“I think seeing Renmark take on Barmera-Monash again in the Grand Final sits right for most football followers, in the sense that they were the two best teams over the entire season.
“I’ve never seen it this close, where the team that finished sixth was still a live finals chance, way down to the final few rounds.
“We love getting to all the grounds, each one has its own unique quirks like the air-raid siren at the Lakeside in Barmera, Berri’s historic grandstand, and the galv-pipe light towers at Loxton North.”
Winnall’s sentiments were backed up by 5RM general manager Greg Bakker, who said the station is full of commitment to the region.
“As 5RM nears 90 years on air, our commitment to local community, sport, and the RFL remains as strong as ever,” he said.
“While many of our community hear the broadcast on Saturdays, the effort and work behind the scenes must be noted.
“Lachie doesn’t give away too many trade secrets, however has certainly found the knack of using the resources he has to the maximum.”
5RM program director, Anthony Milich, who by his own admission stays clear of the football broadcasting operations, wished Lachie, Nobby and the team well with his signature Friday afternoon line of “good call boys.”
In addition to 5RM’s game of the day broadcast, Trevor Scott’s The Sideline View will be live from 10am to capture the atmosphere.
