A RIVERLANDER was charged for breaching bail after using a fake firearm in a standoff with police in Glossop last week.
Police patrols were called to a business on Anderson Street, just before 2.30pm on Thursday, January 21, following reports of a man carrying a firearm.
A SAPOL spokesperson said a 51-year-old Glossop man was arrested at the scene.
“Police negotiated with the man to put the weapon down, eventually using capsicum spray and then a taser to subdue and arrest him,” the spokesperson said.
“On inspection the firearm was imitation only, with a piece of wood shaped like a rifle stock and an old rifle barrel taped to the stock.”
The man was then charged with charged with several counts of endanger life and breach of bail.
It is understood he appeared in front of the Berri Magistrates Court last week.
