Wine and Food Festival cancelled, temporary change to 2020 format

A MUCH-LOVED Riverland event has been cancelled due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings, with organisers planning a temporary change for this year’s festival.
The Riverland Wine and Food Festival (RWFF) event committee met last week to decide the fate of the 2020 event, with members deciding to cancel the traditional Saturday event and proceed with an alternate format in October.
The new format will see individual businesses host events from October 16 to 18 and register with the RWFF to promote the events online through the festival’s website and social media pages, and RWFF media partners.
Committee member Kelly Wagner said registrations will “hopefully open soon”, with tickets to be available shortly thereafter.
“Given the unprecedented condition we’ve faced this year, we really wanted to deliver an event to the region to provide social and economic benefits, which we feel are so important,” she said.
“The event committee is currently working with councils in the region and the RWFF event sponsors to secure formal sponsorship for the event.
“Obviously all planning is contingent on the evolving landscape, restrictions and responses to COVID-19, so it’s day-by-day planning at the moment.”
