United in search of new Riverland talent

RIVERLAND junior soccer players have been encouraged to attend a SA Football Academy coaching clinic to be held in Berri on Saturday.
The clinic is aimed at junior boys and girls — will feature Adelaide United midfielder Abbey Burns.
Burns, who is a product of the academy, said the clinic would offer junior players an opportunity to gain “first-hand” experience.
“I’ve been teaching at clinics for a while now,” she said.
“It’s great (for junior players) to get some first-hand experience and feedback on how to get to the next level if they want. It will be great fun too.”
Attendees will be shown hints on ball mastery skills, match fitness, first touch and personal development.
Previous clinics uncovered two state players from the Riverland, Harrison Carney and Aiden Erceg.
The clinic comes to the Riverland after Adelaide was named as one of the host cities of the Women’s World Cup 2023.
Burns said hosting World Cup games “is what we’ve been waiting for all these years”.
“The women’s game is getting more recognised now,” she said.
“There’s more clinics and teams to play for, we’re able to give more opportunity to players to have a taste of this and that.’
The clinic will be held at the Berri River Rangers Soccer Club on Saturday, from 10.30am.
