Traffic counters placed along Mindarie Road

A PUSH from the community to upgrade Mindarie Road has been heard by its local council, with traffic counters expected to be set up along the road to determine the viability of those requests.
The District Council of Loxton Waikerie will set-up two counters on the north and south side of the five-way junction for a period of at least six months to determine whether road upgrades are necessary.
District Council of Loxton Waikerie CEO David Beaton said there had been a strong push from people in the area to get the road bituminised and sealed, and the traffic counters would enable the council to determine whether that would be viable.
“To be able to make a judgement on whether it’s going to be eligible for funding, we need to be able to have more information on not only the frequency of traffic, but the type of traffic that’s going along there as well,” he said.
The counters are expected to be placed within the next month.
Traffic counters on Evans Road will also be sought by the council.
