Suspicious house fire in Renmark

A HOUSE fire in Renmark last Tuesday is being treated as suspicious by local authorities.
Renmark MFS firefighters were called to a Twelfth Street unit around 2am last week after the structure caught alight.
Renmark MFS commander John McNaughton said two firies in breathing apparatuses and a high-pressure line went through the back door of the unit and extinguished the fire.
Mr McNaughton said after the fire was out, upon further investigation, he believed the incident to be suspicious and informed police officers on scene.
South Australia police captured a light-coloured Toyota Land Cruiser 4WD with three people inside on CCTV stopping outside the property and entering the vacant unit, where police allege the fire was deliberately lit.
Mr McNaughton estimated the damage to the unit to be $30,000, and to the furniture inside, about a couple hundred dollars’ worth.
Riverland detectives have asked anyone who recognises the vehicle or has information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
