Stylists’ royal prize

A BERRI salon was one of 10 salons nationwide to win the Schwarzkopf Princess Photo Challenge.
Cindy’s Hair and Beauty’s Cindy Najar and Kara Symens participated in the event in late June, which entailed receiving a doll – theirs being Snow White – and recreating the look on someone else.
Ms Najar, who is the salon owner, said the event was different to anything she has done before.
“I have taken part in photo challenges before but not for a while and nothing like this,” she said.
“Each salon nationwide got sent a different doll so everyone created something different.
“On top of recreating Snow White, I also created the evil witch.
“It’s not every day I get to do hair and make-up that is witch-inspired so I had a lot of fun with it.”
Ms Najar said she was proud that a small salon in Berri was able to compete with bigger ones nationwide.
“There are incredible salons in Sydney and Melbourne that have extremely talented stylists but here at Cindy’s, we put so much love and passion into our work and it truly did pay off,” she said.
“It was just amazing to see our small salon on the map and have us prove that we take pride in our work.”
Mrs Symens said she enjoyed working on something that was “totally different”.
“I love embracing my creative side so to be involved with something like this was super fun,” she said.
“We had fun working on recreating Snow White but it was also fun staging and taking the photos.
“We have a garden outside that we used for a backdrop and they turned out pretty good, we were quite proud.”
