Soccer club thankful for new lights

A LOCAL soccer club has thanked the State Government and local council for their financial support towards their new lights.
The Renmark Olympic Soccer Club’s new lights, which the club received funding for late last year, have been used so far this season for trainings and will also be utilised this Friday night to host matches.
Club president Jim Koumbarakos said it was exciting to have competitive matches being played under the new lights.
“Friday night we have got our first game of the year at home, under lights,” he said.
“We have two B grade games being played, because of what COVID-19 has done to our fixture.
“We have had to shorten the season and play a couple of games under lights, so it has worked out well having the new lights.”
Mr Koumbarakos said the new lights were a marked improvement on the previous ones, which has been a major benefit for the club.
