Security upgrades needed at council Westpac building

A RIVERLAND council will spend a portion of funds recently received from a bank to upgrade the security of a prominent river-front building.
Renmark Paringa councillors passed a motion at last month’s general meeting to release $15,000 of the $80,000 paid by Westpac to support renovations at the previous Westpac building located at 180 Murray Avenue, Renmark.
A Renmark Paringa Council spokesperson said minor works were needed on the building’s security and alarm systems, exterior security lighting and locks.
“While the process to finalise the end-of-lease documentation is continuing, a small amount of funding is required to be released to support a range of works that needs to occur to support the security of the property in the immediate future and the next phase of the expression of interest process,” the spokesperson said.
Renmark Paringa Council initially accepted the $80,000 payment from Westpac in November, after its lease on the premises was terminated in June.
