RYT’s new committee call-out

YOUNG Riverlanders with a passion for arts have been encouraged to join a local theatre company’s new creative committee.
Riverland Youth Theatre (RYT) has announced it will form a Youth Committee that will help guide the organisation’s creative program and theatrical offerings.
RYT creative producer Danyon De Buell said the committee would assist building strategies to best engage with young people across the region.
“The role of the youth committee is to inform RYT what program and projects they would like delivered to 13 to 26 year olds residing in regional South Australia, Riverland and Mallee,” Ms De Buell said.
“RYT has an acknowledged history of collaboration within the wider Riverland community with our projects created collaboratively by young people, emerging and professional artists with consistent input by young people throughout the entire creative process.
“All our delivery allows young people to express themselves individually and within a group.
“The key element in RYT’s success is the children and young people’s passion as creators, participants, provocateurs, advisors and entertainers.”
Ms De Buell said involvement with performing arts helped youth in regional towns gain new creative skills, while also building self-confidence and new social connections.
“RYT provides strategic support for youth arts practice, encouraging the creation of safe and supportive environments that value imagination, originality, daring and experimentation,” she said.
“We ensure our program is dynamic, engaging and importantly fun. Through our annual program we create networks and links that makes the arts accessible to all young people, regardless of their abilities, background and circumstance.
“Exposure to the arts develops skills such persistence, collaboration, creative thinking, problem solving and motivation.”
