Rotary Club of Loxton to host drug briefing

STEPHANIE THOMPSON
THE region’s drug use and support options will be front and centre at a meeting in Loxton next week.
The Rotary Club of Loxton has invited Bruce Mellett to guest speak at the event and discuss the current work of the Riverland Local Drug Action Team.
Rotary Club of Loxton president Jenny Mills extended an invitation to the Riverland community to attend.
“We want to open this meeting up to the public,” she said.
Mr Mellett said the Riverland Local Drug Action Team continues to advocate for more resources and support to address issues related to drug and alcohol misuse.
“(It) remains a large problem across the Riverland, especially in the youth demographic,” he said.
Mr Mellett said the team is also concerned about the attraction and retention of key staff in the drug and alcohol arena in the Riverland, and the pressure placed on existing resources.
The meeting will be held at the Loxton Club on Wednesday, March 17 at 6pm for 6.30pm. For bookings, call the Loxton Club on 8584 7353.
