Rainy days bring an early taste of winter

RIVERLANDERS received an early glimpse of winter with rain and low temperatures – which are expected to continue – across the region last week.
The Bureau of Meterology (BoM) recorded over 10mm of rainfall at both Renmark and Loxton from last Wednesday afternoon to Thursday morning.
A further 3.4mm fell in Renmark between Friday night and Saturday morning, with Loxton also seeing 3.2mm in that period.
A BoM spokesperson advised Riverlanders further rainfalls and cooler temperatures were expected across the coming weeks.
“With the rainbands that came through on Wednesday afternoon, we saw 12.2mm at Renmark, 10.8mm at Loxton and 9.6mm at Bordertown,” the spokesperson said.
“We’ve got a front we’re expecting to come through… which will see some return of shower activity to the Riverland and Murraylands.
“We’ll also see a drop in the temperatures, (but) the totals won’t be as significant in the Riverland.”
