RIVERLANDERS are rejoicing as local pubs reopened their doors and welcomed back their regular clientele earlier this week after the second stage of COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.
The State Government recently announced that starting on Monday, June 1, venues can have up to 80 patrons – provided they are contained to groups of 20 in separate rooms or areas – and alcohol can also be served to customers as long as they are seated.
Loxton Hotel general manager Darren Morrison said he looks forward to welcoming back customers and staff.
“We’re reopening the Loxton Hotel this Friday because that was the original date of restrictions being lifted and we had worked towards that,” he said.
“I’m so excited to see people walk through our doors again and sit down for a drink and meal.
“We have our regulars that we haven’t seen in a while so it’ll be great to welcome them back.
“I also can’t wait to see our staff come back to work.
“It’ll be great having everyone together again and going back to some sort of norm.”
Mr Morrison said the dining experience will be different than before as the staff need to “find their feet”.
“We have a restricted menu and the dining area will be a bit different,” he said.
“Our menu will be smaller but we will still have our classics available.
“Unlike other pubs, we’re currently under renovations so the sports bar is off limits and we can only accommodate for customers in 1908, 1908 deck and reflections.”
Mr Morrison said the Loxton Hotel will open at 10am this Friday.
“Bookings are essential as we can only have 20 people in an area,” he said.
“Lunch is served from midday to 2pm and dinner from 6pm to 8pm.
“We’ll have people to help with how it will work when you arrive.”
