Pool shelter now open for business

BRENDAN LINES
THE Vitor Renmark Swimming Club will hold its two-day open event this weekend, showcasing the club’s newly erected shelter at the Renmark Swimming Pool.
Club president Mark Riedel said building the shelter was made possible with funding from Renmark Paringa Council.
“A ‘pitch in’ grant was applied for and we were lucky enough to have the project approved,” he said.
“The Vitor Renmark Swimming Club saw the need for a much larger shelter at the Renmark Swimming Pool not only to provide additional shelter for carnivals but also for school events, general public and other users.”
Mr Riedel said the shelter is a welcome addition as the club holds its first major event for the club in 2021.
“The shelter will get good use and will prove to be even more valuable in January 2022 when the Vitor Renmark Swimming Club will be fortunate enough to stage the South Australian Country Swimming Championships,” he said.
This weekend’s event has attracted just over 260 registrations from competitors across 25 SA, Victoria and NSW-based clubs.
Mr Riedel said the event will be open to the public to attend.
“The event will be catered and we invite the public to attend and enjoy two days of high-quality swimming,” he said.
Gates open 9.45am and swimming starts 11am Saturday.
On Sunday, gates open at 7.15am and swimming starts 8.30am.
