Open day to show off Men’s Shed progress

A RIVERLAND church is set to hold an open day and market for the public to see the progress of a new Men’s Shed.
The open day, organised by the Berri Church of Christ, will help raise funds to complete the construction of the Berri Men’s Shed and allow interested locals to get on board with the project.
Berri Church of Christ leadership team deacon Nancy Murdock said the church wanted “as many people as possible” to see the progress that has been made on the shed.
“The shed’s up and the floor is being done as we speak, but we still have to do the kitchen and we are still fundraising to finish it off,” she said.
“We’d also like to ask any men out there in the community who would be willing to join the committee to come along and tell us what they would like in the shed and we’ll go from there.”
Ms Murdock said it was important for men in the community to contribute ideas to what will be “their shed”.
“We just want the community to come out and come on board, have a look at what we’re doing… and if anyone is interested in talking about the Men’s Shed, come along to the meeting,” she said.
“We want the men in the community to come with their own ideas.”
Ms Murdock said although work on the shed was “well and truly under way”, more donations would be needed to finish off the project.
“We’re hoping the shed will be completely finished by early next year, but we’re still looking for donations,” she said.
The Berri Men’s Shed open day and market will be held at the Berri Church of Christ on Saturday, September 26 from 9am to 3pm.
