Op shop call out

VOLUNTEERS at the Rotary Club of Waikerie’s opportunity shop are encouraging locals to donate good quality winter clothing, due to a short supply.
Rotarians Grant Hall and Chris Elliott, who have spent a combined total of 20 years serving the club, said there was a “high demand” for winter clothes from locals.
“We’re very grateful for the donations we’ve been receiving but now more than ever locals are wanting something warm and comfy, and unfortunately we don’t have much to sell,” Ms Elliot said.
“Our op shop only sells clothing, footwear and accessories, and three quarters of what we have are all for women – we need more men’s clothing.
“Our aim is to help people purchase good clothing at a cheap price and we can’t do that in the winter months if we have nothing here.”
Ms Elliott said donations can be made at any time.
“The shop doesn’t have to be open for donations to be made,” she said.
“In the driveway, there is a chute in the wall where people can drop stuff off.
“All clothing is accepted but it must be in good condition, otherwise we will throw them away.”
Mr Hall said money made from purchases goes to Riverland, Australian, and international projects.
“All the money will go to good use,” he said.
“We also accept eftpos so we can cater for everyone.”
The Rotary Club of Waikerie’s opportunity shop is located at 3a Coombe Terrace, Waikerie, beside the Waikerie Hotel.
