New paramedic joins Loxton team

THE latest recruit at the Loxton Ambulance Station says he is excited to become a part of the local community, and start his new adventure in the Riverland.
Paramedic Samuel Lamey joined the South Australian Ambulance Service Loxton station last month after qualifying for his internship last June.
Mr Lamey, who originates from the Adelaide Hills, said he had only been in the Riverland for three weeks, but already loved the area and the people who live here.
“I haven’t been in the Riverland for long – only two weeks or so – but it’s really good,” he said.
“I was ready for a bit of an adventure, and the city was just a bit boring.
“I got a choice out of a few stations – some metro and some country – and I chose Loxton because I really wanted to become country and I love the Riverland.”
Mr Lamey studied a Bachelor of paramedic science at Flinders University before landing the job in Loxton.
He said he had been drawn to the field from a young age, and liked the fact he could help people in a practical in a way.
“To be honest, driving fast cars – that was probably one of the bigger factors when I was younger,” Mr Lamey said.
“I liked the uniforms and all of that, but also, helping people.
“It’s good (that) I’m doing that in a practical way being on the front lines rather than in an office or something.”
Mr Lamey said he looked forward to working with the rest of the team at the Loxton station, and to becoming a valuable member of the Riverland community.
“I’ve met these guys and I’ve really loved it so far,” he said.
“They’re all really nice and made me feel welcome.
“I’m just excited to meet people around the area, and excited for that community vibe.”
