Men’s Shed opens for 10 at a time

LOCAL community groups are rejoicing as South Australia’s COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease up – and members of a Waikerie men’s group are eager to get back into the sheds.
The Waikerie Men’s Shed (WMS) has reopened its workshop doors for up to 10 people at a time as of yesterday.
WMS acting chair Bob Kemp said the club’s 85 members were “very happy” to start going back.
“We’re still going to keep social distancing restrictions – no big gatherings for morning tea like we usually have,”
he said.
“Ten people in a workshop or the break room at a time, and we’re trusting the members to stick to the rules.
“All the blokes I’ve spoken to have been very happy with the news; it’s a good place for retired men to go and keep busy and socialise.
“And I’m sure their wives are happy we’re open again, too.”
The Waikerie Men’s Shed will be open from 9am on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with strict social distancing restrictions still in place.
More information as restrictions ease in the coming weeks will be made available.
