Meet the ‘perfect’ Mardi Gras candidate

A LOXTON woman passionate about giving back to the community has been listed as the “perfect candidate” for a Mardi Gras senior ambassador, according to the event’s committee.
Sallyann Wendland, who works at Loxton’s Amcal Pharmacy on East Terrace, will be sponsored by the business for the 2020/2021 Mardi Gras.
Ms Wendland said it was an “honour and pleasure” to be asked to be a senior ambassador.
“I absolutely love the community and it would be amazing to get out there and mix with people,” she said.
“I look forward to my fundraising and I have already received positive feedback for what I have planned.”
Ms Wendland said she had many fundraising ideas in mind.
“I’ve been putting ideas out for big and small ways to fundraise and I’ve had great support so far,” she said.
“I am hoping to host a golf day – because everyone loves golf – a teddy bears’ picnic for kids, and do small things like guess how many jellybeans are in the jar.”
Ms Wendland said it felt “fantastic” to be sponsored by Amcal Pharmacy.
“I’ve worked at the pharmacy for 14 years and the business as a whole has come so far,” she said.
“The pharmacy has won prestigious awards, such as Pharmacy of the Year, and the staff here are like family.
“They’ve been so supportive of my Mardi Gras journey so far and I know they’ll be there every step of the way.”
Loxton Mardi Gras president Liz Dymmott said she was “excited” to have Ms Wendland on board.
“Sallyann is such a vibrant and community-minded person, I knew she would be an ideal candidate,” she said.
“She’s already so excited about being an ambassador and she has some great ideas in mind.”
Ms Dymmott said the committee was looking for more community and extra senior ambassadors.
