A LOCAL dentist has been nominated for the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards for his innovative thinking, hard work, leadership and community focus.
Berri’s Dr Sachin Kulkarni, who works at Berri Dental, was nominated by a former colleague recently under the Qoin Career Achievement Award category.
Dr Kulkarni, formerly of Adelaide, graduated from Griffith University in Dentistry in 2018 and returned to Adelaide to work as a general dentist in a private practice.
He moved to the Riverland in June, 2019, and has since participated in numerous health campaigns.
The 27-year-old said it was an honour to be nominated.
“My former boss in Adelaide, Greg Miller, put me up for the award and I was very surprised,” Dr Kulkarni said.
“I love my job and the work I do, so to be recognised for it felt really special.
“It felt like a great milestone to reach and I’m excited for the nomination.”
Dr Kulkarni said he looks forward to achieving more milestones in the future.
“I love being able to empower people and encourage them to take care of their health,” he said.
“Developing the value of empowerment with the value of becoming an expert and pioneering an area of study has helped me empower patients that currently find it difficult to access care.”
