Loxton High School’s musical announced

LOXTON High School students will have audiences “laughing and tapping their toes” at this year’s school musical, Godspell, which was announced last week.
The school will present the 1970s hit musical at the Loxton Community Theatre in August as the 2021 production.
Production manager Margaret Wormald said the stage musical, which is based on the New York state production, has “something for everyone”.
“Based on the parables in the Gospel of St Matthew, the production takes a modern twist to highlight the building of community amongst diversity in a funky 1970s psychedelic way that will have audiences laughing and tapping their toes,” she said.
“The music offers a range of genres from country rock, to rhythm and blues, and ballads with creative harmonies.
“There is also plenty of scope for creative sets and costumes, whilst showcasing the particular talents of cast and crew members.”
Ms Wormald said the school had “many talented students”.
“Auditions for the production were held recently and all lead roles have been assigned to students who displayed exceptional talent,” she said.
“For some, this is their first time in a stage musical, whilst others have extensive experience in school and community musicals.
“With a cast of over 35 students from years 8 to 12 and a similar-sized backstage crew, Godspell promises to be another memorable Loxton High School musical.”
