Loxton Community Heritage Group enters five-year deal... SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED

THE Loxton Community Heritage Group Inc (LCHG) has signed a new deal with the local council which will see it continue operations at the Historical Village for another five years.
The LCHG has been responsible for the ongoing management and operation of the Loxton Historical Village on behalf of the District Council of Loxton Waikerie since July last year.
Last Wednesday, the LCHG and Loxton Waikerie Council extended that arrangement for another five years, given the group’s effective management and success in increasing volunteer hours and visitations at the Village over the last
nine months.
“Since taking over the operation of the Village, the group has added a new vibrancy to the collection and the displays at the Village with less direct reliance on council’s input,” said Gordon Thomson, District Council of Loxton Waikerie director of corporate and community services.
“The open days and working bees have been very successful and it’s pleasing to see a collaborative approach being cemented between the Loxton Riverfront Holiday Park, the Pines Historic House and Garden, and the Village.”
LCHG chairman Paul Kaesler said the contract extension put the group in a strong position to continue future work and projects at
the Village.
“Signing the ongoing agreement gave certainty to its management and operation of the Village, and this will enable it to continue to improve the display and promotion of the collection which focuses on the district’s history over the period of 1890 to 1950,” he said.
“The group is now in a strong position to develop and implement a strategic marketing plan to lead future work to upgrade the displays and grounds of the Village.
“We have a number of projects that we are working on to enhance the visitor experience and we are looking forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Village in September 2023, with revitalised displays and with plenty to see and do.”
