Local rec centre to become The Precinct

A RIVERLAND council hopes the new name chosen for a local sporting facility will reflect its town’s values and encourage residents to “get active”.
The District Council of Loxton Waikerie (DCLW) announced today the Loxton Recreation Complex would be renamed to The Precinct – Loxton.
DCLW Mayor Leon Stasinowsky said the new name was suggested by Loxton High School student Emerson Fielke.
“It was important that the complex and outdoor area has a name and brand that reflects the aspirations of the community and enhances all of the facilities for local clubs and individuals to benefit and serve the growing community for years to come,” Mr Stasinowsky said.
“(This is) encouraging more people to get active and enjoy the sport they love.”
A DCLW spokesperson said a new logo would also be designed for the centre.
“Council wishes to thank all those who submitted names and ideas to name the Loxton Recreation Complex,” the spokesperson said.
“The submissions received were wide and varied which provided an extensive choice for both the Community Awards Assessment Panel and Council.
“The next step for Council is obtaining designs and costings on the logo structure to officially complete the naming of the complex which is expected to be in early to mid-2021.”
