TENNIS Australia held a Silver Australian Money Tournament (AMT) at the Renmark Tintra Lawn Tennis Club over the Adelaide Cup long weekend.
The event attracted 85 players from across the state and Victoria, competing in 150 matches across both senior and junior competitions.
In the junior competition, 35 Riverland juniors entered the tournament, mixing it among the best metropolitan players.
Loxton brothers Cooper and Ashton Kruger went through undefeated to claim the 10-and- under doubles final, winning 6-0 in the decider.
Cobdogla’s Hayden Carter finished third in the 16-and- under boys singles and Kierra Schumann placed third in the girls singles event.
Carter also featured in the 16- and-under boys doubles final with partner Cohen Battams.
In the 12-and-under doubles Riverland player Tom Nettle and partner Henry Dring finished third.
Emily Carter, of Cobdogla, and her doubles partner Angel Mishra advanced to the 12 and under girls doubles final, falling short 6-4, 2-6, 10-7.
Silver AMTs offer $3000 in prize money across the open events and provide the third highest amount of Australian ranking points.
The men’s senior event was won by former Indian Davis Cup player Aswin Vijayaragavan and Chloe Schwartz won the women’s event.
Tennis Australia tournament director Hayden Leo commended the host club after the event.
“I’d like to thank all at the Renmark Tintra Lawn Tennis Club who turned out some of the best lawn courts we have seen,” he said, “and for all their hard work running a successful event.”
