It’s about community helping community

MEMBERS of a Loxton group are now well equipped to tackle even bigger and better projects, thanks to community generosity.
The Loxton Community Men’s Shed recently obtained a new lathe, bandsaw and large table saw, with the Rotary Club of Loxton donating $7500 towards the machinery.
Loxton Community Men’s Shed chairperson Dean Kerley said the new equipment would be well utilised by the group’s 50-plus members.
“It will be a great asset and enable us to do some more projects,” he said.
Loxton Community Men’s Shed secretary Des Schliebs said the donation allowed the shed to replace second-hand machinery that was purchased or donated 15 years ago.
“We are now upgrading to a more industrial-strength machines, which will allow us to do bigger and better jobs,” he said.
Rotary Club of Loxton president Jenny Mills said the organisation saw the value in helping the Men’s Shed.
“We think the Men’s Shed is a really important part of our community and it contributes significantly to the community members,” she said.
“We enjoy a good working relationship with the Men’s Shed and do projects together.”
