HAPPY HOUR: Riverlanders quick to return to reopened pubs and clubs

RIVERLAND pubs and clubs are proving a favourite location for locals and visitors to celebrate the region’s recovery from the COVID-19 outbreak.
The Renmark Hotel is among local bars and restaurants to see patrons quickly return following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions last month.
Renmark Hotel general manager Darren Baker said staff members whose employment was affected by the hotel’s closure had returned to work.
“We had a great response from our local community and all have been very understanding and respectful of necessary COVID-19 rules put in place so we can reopen safely,” Mr Baker said.
“During the (June) long weekend we were full with tourists visiting the area.
“All staff that we could utilise for the JobKeeper (program) are now all back in some capacity.”
Mr Baker said a remodelling of the Nanya – plus a new executive chef and menu – had been well-received by customers so far.
“It has been a great start to a change in the way we present and deliver our meals,” he said.
“The Nanya is offering an à la carte menu with full table service. Early signs are very positive and our feedback has been encouraging.
“Our executive chef Hugh is passionate about using our local produce, cooking with French influences. He is constantly changing our menu to utilise ingredients at the peak of their harvest.”
Mr Baker thanked local patrons for their support of the hotel’s recovery from the financial impacts of COVID-19.
“Everyone has been really respectful and complimentary to the upgrades and changes we have made while we were closed,” he said.
“We would like to thank and encourage all new and loyal customers to again visit us for a meal or a beverage.”
