Generous Girl Guides grant

THE Barmera Girl Guides were given a $855 cheque recently, which will be used towards projects, general expenses and fundraising for a state camp.
The Barmera Lions Club presented the girl guides with the cheque, after raising money from their doughnut van at the Barmera markets recently.
Barmera Girl Guide’s leader Sue Webber said the partnership between the club and organisation has been ongoing for “many years”.
“Annually we are presented with a cheque from the Lions members at a joint night with the girl guides and their parents,” she said.
“The Barmera Girl Guides’ parents volunteer in the Barmera Lions Club doughnut van so it’s a joint effort.
“Due to current COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to have a presentation night this year, however the girls enjoyed making a thank you note to pass onto the Lions Club.”
Ms Webber said the girls were appreciative for the Lions support.
“The money will go towards ongoing hall maintenance, leaders training, meeting expenses and our state camp,” she said.
“A new sign has been purchased and is soon to be installed on the outside of the newly painted Girl Guide hall.”
Ms Webber welcomes new girls to join the Barmera Girl Guides.
“Barmera Girl Guides has resumed at the hall and meet on Monday nights at 6.30pm,” she said.
“We welcome any new girls that would like to join this world-wide organisation.”
